Forming in Seattle back in the early 2000s, American rockers Band of Horses quickly turned heads with their rustic melodics and reverberating charm and soon became a fixture in the burgeoning indie rock explosion of the era.
2007 brought the group their first proper taste of mainstream attention, with their second album Cease to Begin not only cementing the group's trademark sound, but also snagging Billboard chart success and an inclusion in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums that same year. But it was in 2010 that Band of Horses truly hit their stride, with their Grammy-nominated opus Infinite Arms declaring their ongoing tenure as indie rock greats.
While the Band of Horses story so far has survived lineup, label and literal living changes since those very early days in Seattle, the band (now based in South Carolina) are once again poised on the release of a brand new album, with the long-awaited release of a sixth full-length album Things Are Great finally ready to emerge this week. But while it's been close to six years since a new Band of Horses album, Things Are Great in fact returns to earlier sonic territory for the band, straddling nostalgia with lush melodics and unbridled authenticity along for the ride.
And with the extremely impending release of Things Are Great this Friday, Tiana Speter grabbed a moment with BoH frontman Ben Bridwell (and his adorable dog) for the band's only Australian interview to chat re-doing the new record more than once, what track on the album he's "terrified" of and how the band have ultimately returned to what Band of Horses are all about in 2022.
That and more is ahead, hit play on the chat below!
