THE SOUNDCHECK IS SOLELY OWNED AND OPERATED BY AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST, WRITER & PRESENTER TIANA SPETER.

Raised on a diet of classical music before evolving into a rock and metal-devouring machine, Tiana Speter has spent over 15 years working in the creative industries. Establishing The Soundcheck, an independent music media website, in 2017, Tiana has since evolved her professional gaze to also incorporate freelance journalism, copywriting and hosting, publicity, web design and beyond for a vast range of high-profile artists and companies.

Outside of running The Soundcheck, Tiana operates PR campaigns and creates content with Dallas Does PR. As a journalist, she's previously interviewed everyone from Tom Morello through to Deftones, Paul Kelly, Duran Duran, Slipknot, Hans Zimmer, Poppy and hundreds more. Her work can be found on Rolling Stone Australia, Music Feeds, Tone Deaf and The Music, while her past and present hosting tenure includes on-camera hosting for Good Things Festival (Good Things Brings interview series and weekly news segments during festival lead-up), Knotfest TV (hosting the Brisbane leg of Knotfest Australia in 2023). She is also frequently featured as the host for the Destroy All Lines tour interview series A Peek Behind The Lines with a range of high-profile guests, and previously hosted podcasts including The Green Room, Press Play and more.

In 2024, Tiana was awarded the Women In Heavy Music Award at the annual Australian Women In Music Awards. She has also previously appeared as a guest heavy music expert on triple j's Hottest 100 program, The Tally Room, was a featured speaker at the Australian Women In Music Award's first ever Breaking Metal Barriers panel in 2023, and hosted the 2025 In Conversation segment at the AWMAs with photographer Brittany Long.

With an extensive history also in television production (Seven Network) Tiana’s diverse creative background and passion brings sparkle to every project she takes on. Can she talk and write underwater? Yes, and she'll do it while drooling over riffs and secretly keeping tabs on the latest NBA game results.

The Soundcheck specialises in metal, rock, punk and heavier surrounds; but everything and anything is welcome round these parts. At the end of the day, The Soundcheck praises three rules above all else:

ARTIST FIRST. NO GATEKEEPING. MUSIC IS LIFE.
