SINGLE REVIEW: Little Bastards (PALAYE ROYALE)

SINGLE Little Bastards // ARTIST Palaye Royale

A melting pot of gothic tinges and booming rock, Palaye Royale creep tantalisingly closer to their third full-length LP with new single Little Bastards offering a gripping distraction amid a world gone mad.

Springing to life in 2008, Las Vegas-hailing rockers Palaye Royale have continually courted their own signature blend of bluesy art-rock; from thick swaggering guitars to theatrical flourishes, there's little wonder the group have been stamped as a My Chemical Romance-meets-Rolling Stones glossy hybrid. And while the group unwaveringly offer a meeting point between a variety of alt-rock portals, it's on their latest release (and upcoming album's opening track) Little Bastards that the group flexes their poignant swagger into a noticeable sonic glow-up.

Weaving muscular riffs between taut grooves and the buxom vocal stylings of frontman Remington Leith, Little Bastards presents an undulating journey that treads partially into Royal Blood territory while still embracing the group's punk rock flair amid an anthem both against fake friends and also for the universal isolation we're all currently faced with:

Little Bastards' is the opening track from our third album, The Bastards. Musically we show the direction of the album all in a single track. The vulnerability, the truth and the aggression all wrapped together in a three and a half minute track which will set the listener up for what is to come for the next 14 tracks and what corners we will touch. Lyrically it trails from our latest release 'Lonely' but displaying the frustration and anger towards individuals that are meant to be friends. Visually we wanted to display our current state which is complete isolation from the world; trapped inside a house but yet the toxic society has found its way inside. We have to 'band' together to keep our circle of trust and honesty tight." - Sebastian Danzig, guitars

With the group's brand new album Bastards set to ignite in just little over a month, there's set to be more delicious musical debauchery to divulge as Palaye Royale continue to dive deeper into their sonically glamorous sleeves while sharpening their songwriting claws. But in the meantime, the group have also dropped an accompanying music video for Little Bastards, gifting an animated clip that would not only make Tim Burton proud - it syncs up with the group's tie-in graphic novels written and drawn by Emerson Barrett and XO Billie. You can check the clip out below, and head over here to check out album pre-sales and a whole lot more.
