SONG: Rooting For You ARTIST: London Grammar New year, new you – new tunes! And my stars, if the latest track from London Grammar is anything to go by, 2017 is going to be a beauty.
Marking the British trio’s first new music since their acclaimed 2013 debut 'If You Wait', it really has been quite a literal wait for fans - but one apparently not in vain and the new single 'Rooting For You' is quite simply jaw-dropping.
Lead singer Hannah Reid is in her element, sweeping and soaring like a flawless angel over ambient guitar and keys. And in a fitting move, the band also released a live performance video that perfectly complements the haunting lyrics – opening with Reid singing a capella in a dark room for a few minutes, before pulling back to reveal the other two members (Dan Rothman and Dominic Major) and an entire orchestra behind her.
It’s a stripped back offering compared to some of their previous work - the vocals are firmly in the driver’s seat and there’s not a beat in sight. But if you let it carry you off into the clouds, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
No news yet on when we can expect the new album, but you can check out the live music video here
