Sunny Coast alt roots wunderkids Flaskas have come in leaps and bounds since appearing onstage for the first time supporting the legendary Ash Grunwald on New Year's Eve in 2016. From day one this infectious lot have simultaneously owned and evolved their trademark sound dubbed as 'Earth Rock', blending alternative with coastal roots, as well as funk, folk, blues and Indigenous music - a mix perfectly showcased on their recently released debut album 'Kingdom Come'.
Opening with the blazing jam 'Slipper', 'Kingdom Come' travels across eight tracks of revolving moods and expansive grooves, injecting Indigenous instrumentation ('Slipper', 'Journey Home'), reggae bliss ('Afterglow') and a whole cluster of funked-up blues ('Free Time', 'I See You') to ignite the senses and incite your dancing shoes.

Dabbling in some primo production, the Flaskas lads find solid ground with an engaging combo of self-possessed soul and rip-roaring exuberance. And while 'Kingdom Come' ultimately coats itself in a carefree cocoon, beyond the compelling shifts and smooth tones is a vastly insightful expedition into self realisation, hope and the beauty of nature that stays with you long after the stomping bliss of closing track 'Journey Home' has subsided.
The truly astonishing reality of such a polished and realised debut bodes well for the Flaskas lads, and 'Kingdom Come' is definitely something that is sincerely begging to be heard live.
