ALBUM: Spirit Bunny ARTIST: Spirit Bunny
If you're craving a sweet treat that won't go straight to the thighs, Brisbane experimental pop trio Spirit Bunny have got you sorted with the recent release of their self-titled LP. The album comes drizzled with circuit bent keys and crashing synths, and initially it's a chaotic affair - but the band transcends beyond typical noise-pop, infusing gritty retro vibes with wild enthusiasm, and a sprinkling of hidden hip-hop beats (particularly on track 'Plan Z'). Not content with just creating some solid tunes that critique and celebrate consumer culture, the band also take DIY to the next level - the LP comes in a hand-painted cardboard sleeve and boasts weirdly wonderful modified keyboards soaring over rasping drums. For a debut, Spirit Bunny have embraced sugar-coated twee and laced it with twisted grooves - and it goes down smooth. The band are currently on the road for their LP launch. Catch a glimpse of the album below with track 'Bunny Battles':
