PROJECT TITLE: Prometheus/Eventide // ARTIST: Seas Of Conflict
Combining two singles into one seamless sequence, the upcoming release from New Zealand heavies Seas Of Conflict this Friday brings some epic techy vibes and vivid fables to life in utterly crushing fashion.
With the video for the group's new track Eventide dropping back in July, the Seas Of Conflict gents deftly unveiled their latest material following their previous single Monachopsis with a dazzling concept visually circling around Scandinavian folklore while lyrically dwelling in themes of vulnerability amid some metalcore brutality. And while the hulking quartet's new material adeptly continued their metal voyage, what most were unaware of was that Eventide was in fact only half of the picture, with another new track Prometheus designed to sit in direct cohesion with Eventide as one entire piece of music.
Sitting as the anchor to the 11 minutes and 32 seconds of audio intended to be listened to in full, Eventide certainly brings the sequence home with some technical and melodic brilliance. But showing much darker shades of the Seas Of Conflict heavy arsenal is in fact the opening track Prometheus which roars and brawls with deeper intensity than its sonic twin, wielding thundering drums and guttural vocals amid the occasional reprieve of ambient guitars and cleaner melodics. Compared to its lead-in, Eventide is practically giddy in its metalcore jaunts and gritty grooves, while still retaining a level of underlying sonic angst.
Overall, the blending of two juxtaposed pieces into one fused listening experience certainly gives pause to fully observe the varying facets of this explosively tight bunch. And with upcoming shows in their motherland alongside the likes of Polaris, Crooked Royals and Northlane, there's little doubt the remainder of 2019 is going to continue to challenge and evolve this burgeoning bunch as they continue to rise in the heavy world.
THE BRAND NEW SEQUENCE FEATURING PROMETHEUS + EVENTIDE FROM SEAS OF CONFLICT WILL OFFICIALLY RELEASE THIS FRIDAY AUGUST 30. IN THE MEANTIME, YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE CLIP FOR EVENTIDE BELOW, AND FOR MORE SEAS OF CONFLICT INFO, HEAD HERE.
