SINGLE: Ghosts ARTIST: Wilder While it's only been a bit over two weeks, Sydney indie enigmas Wilder have already set a tantalising scene for their upcoming EP due out later this year with their debut single 'Ghosts'. Unfurling around singer Will De Los Santos and his immaculately raw vocals, 'Ghosts' begins as a quietly wistful ballad before building into a textured and defiantly absorbing anthem. And while the track journeys into well-worn themes of heartache and loss, the swirling instrumentation and thoughtful arrangement results in a captivating concoction that is both earnestly bleak and blissful. Stemming from real-life heartache, the track was written after Will experienced his mother leave his father, and it's this sheer brutal honesty that draws you into the beauty and pain of love lost, combined with the group's established ability to morph between rock, folk and soul.
Already turning heads both here and overseas, 'Ghosts' is equal parts emotional sucker-punch and haunting embrace, and a sign of some spectacular things to come from this polished quintet. And with local legend Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Julia Stone, Urthboy) on producing duties, the Sydney lads are sure to have a lot more magic up their sleeves when their hotly anticipated EP reveals itself later this year.
Wilder is Will De Los Santos (vocals and guitar), Dave Wooltorton (lead guitar), Aaron Imperial (drums and keys) and Dan Pinto (bass).
