SINGLE REVIEW: I Never Saw It Coming (MILES AND THE GOODBYE MEN)

SINGLE: I Never Saw It Coming ARTIST: Miles and the Goodbye Men Sometimes in life a little rain must fall, but the bittersweet euphoria that follows some of life's less-rosy occasions has always been a cause for some charming tunes, and the debut single 'I Never Saw It Coming' from Melbourne's Miles and the Goodbye Men is a shining little number that is equal parts sunshine and clouds.

Leaping out with a very firm nod to Tom Petty's 'The Waiting', the track welds together pop-rock with a touch of dreamy shoe-gaze into a hooky paradise - it's all clean-cut guitars and tantalising harmonies as frontman Matthew Miles laments against the upbeat melodies with lyrics like "I'm such an unpleasant thing when I live in my dreams".

Coming to life after Miles packed his Adelaide bags and traipsed off to Melbourne, Miles and the Goodbye Men have chosen a delightful way to say hi to the world with 'I Never Saw It Coming' - it's like a soft caress after the storm, and will be swirling around in your head long after the chorus has faded away.
