Sometimes dreams do come true, and this week the insanely anticipated collab between three of the scene's most prominent vocalists is finally here. Amalgamating trailblazers and modern-day icons, Poppy, Amy Lee of Evanescence and Courtney LaPlante of Spritbox have unleashed End of You via Sumerian Records, with all three ladies shining bright across the board.
Following a social media tease last week, this heavy music team-up is a fan casting that heavy dreams are made of. This ain't a supergroup, this is a bona fide heavy music watershed moment.
Led in its first verse by the firmly emotive stylings of Amy Lee, End of You then leads into Poppy's dark and sinewy second verse before Courtney LaPlante's scorching entrance in the breakdown, with all three colliding in stunning fashion to bring the track to a close.
Wielding a music video directed by Jensen Noen, the track was produced by ex-Bring Me The Horizon's Jordan Fish, with the single ultimately gaining legs during a session with Poppy and Fish when the pair were working on Poppy's album Negative Spaces. As shared by NME, Poppy knew Fish was friends with Lee, and the ultimate collab stemmed from the question: "What if we made our version of a dark Moulin Rogue, like Lady Mamalade?".
Wielding thunderous empowerment and insatiable energy, End of Me will also potentially scratch more heads if Poppy and Courtney LaPlante get mistaken again on the GRAMMYS red carpet in future (if you know, you know). And here's hoping this isn't the last we've heard of this almighty trio.
