SINGLE: Keen For Kick Ons? // ARTIST: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
Keen for some psychedelic goodness? Perth's favourite crunchy kings Psychedelic Porn Crumpets leap into the new year with their brand new track 'Keen For Kick Ons?', and the USA and UK in their sights.
Building on their hypnotic DIY tendencies over the years, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets brand has continued to endear them to airwaves and audiences; hoarding endless energy, retro delicacy and intergalactic tones (and one of the more memorable band names of late), the group have ticked off a swag of releases, countless live shows and even their own curated festival 'Dr Noggin-Floggin & The Liquid Friends Festival' that returned in 2018. And ahead of their return to the UK in February and a jaunt to the USA in March, 'Keen For Kick Ons' is another woozy delight that arms them well for their upcoming journeys.
Busting out fluffy riffs, whirling textures and frontman Jack McEwan's signature haze, 'Keen For Kick Ons?' oozes with tinges of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and some sturdy bops that slither around billowing melodies, while capturing a significant moment in McEwan's life: " ‘Keen For Kick Ons? is about those fruitful days working at a pub. I got fired for getting trollied at an open mic trying to sing Queen. It seemed like a good premise for a track, so I weaved in this narrative of a purple haired French girl who spoke in blotted English but wanted to head out after the bar closed. It’s a mix of tour life and reminiscing about my days at the Indi Bar. Good times.”
With 2019 undoubtedly set to be yet another large one for the PPC lads, there's no doubt a whole lot more cheeky sonic fun to come. But for those of us not able to traipse off overseas on their upcoming adventures, you can go check out the new track plus more below.
