SINGLE: Replace Me // ARTIST: Reside
Get set for some melodic feels and possible ugly crying face with the polished new track 'Replace Me' from Melbourne indie punks Reside.
Whirring to life in 2017, Reside have fervently evolved their earnest take on the emo rock world in a short space of time; part soaring emotive rock, part relatable indie boyband without the cringey bravado or overwhelming angst, Reside bring striking confidence at every turn, as evidenced by their latest release 'Replace Me'.
Marking the first track written for the group's upcoming EP 'The Light That You Saw' due out later this year, 'Replace Me' journeys themes of loss, grief and acceptance with crisp vocals, catchy melodics and sturdy beats. But despite the heavier subject matter, the polished production, soothing vocals from frontman Liam Guinane and overarching soaring tones inject a dynamic touch of optimism to proceedings, as explained by Guinane himself:
"'Replace Me 'was one of the first songs we wrote for this upcoming EP and in a way sort of sums up my journey of how low I was 18 months ago to reaching a point where I felt more myself again. It’s similar to that mantra "It’s okay not to be okay. Accepting that you might feel shit now but you’ll get through it. There’s plenty of songs about heartbreak but I’m not sure any of them reach a point of positive conclusion"
Whether you're a fan of the more emotive shades of rock or not, Reside are a band worth sinking your teeth and/or ears into, and there's certainly a whole lot more to come for this endearing quartet over the next few months.
