SINGLE: What Defines You ARTIST: Kid Fiction
Sprawling textures meet existential scrutiny with Sydney artist Kid Fiction and his brain-tickler of a new track 'What Defines You'.
Fresh off his genre defiant self-titled debut EP earlier this year, 'What Defines You' certainly defines Kid Fiction as equal parts introspective and innovative with this raw and complex release.
Floating fuzzy synths beneath Kid Fiction's viscous vocals, there's a fervent urgency behind the ruminating lyrics and ascending instrumentation, resulting in an immersive electronic masterpiece. But the real defining genius behind 'What Defines You' is its ability to slowly get in your head and tackle some large issues with restraint and poise, as Kid Fiction explains: " “What Defines You was like wrestling a gorilla. It's really big, the themes, the concept and production... it was actually quite intimidating. No place for half measures.”
With a bunch of Europe shows recently under his belt plus some standalone and festival dates back home on the horizon, there's certainly a lot more to come from Kid Fiction in the near future - watch this space!
