SINGLE Bittersweet // ARTIST Kingswood
Desert rock gets an Aussie jolt as Melbourne lords of swagger Kingswood return to their riffing best with their new tune Bittersweet that dropped into the world late last week.
Leaping into 2020 with news of a third studio album and a 20+ whirlwind national tour kicking off in March, Melbourne rockers Kingswood are taking no prisoners this decade as they proudly raise the flag of good old-fashioned Aussie rock and roll on their latest outing Bittersweet taken from their upcoming full-length Juveniles due out on March 13.
Already no strangers to success, snagging an ARIA nomination for their debut album Microscopic Wars in 2014 and traipsing stages with the likes of AC/DC and Aerosmith, there's always been a sense of something special lurking in the Kingswood camp. And while previous releases have certainly proven an undeniable knack for rock that'll rattle your ears and charm your bones, their latest outing signifies a renewed sense of sonic self as Bittersweet embraces all things raw and riffy, straddling some Queens Of The Stone Age fuzz and rasp with pumping hooks and sparkling production that would undeniably sweat hard in a live setting.
Tapping into their ongoing love of subtle genre-splicing as well as an inherent knack for spinning creative chaos into scintillating ear worms, Bittersweet ultimately crafted its punchy feet alongside other tracks on Juveniles during multiple writing and recording sessions across the US, UK and Europe, as chief songwriters Alex Laska and Fergus Linacre teamed-up for some personal sonic alchemy, wading into emotive and melodic waters that was not without its challenges:
“The album we’re finally presenting was an incredibly long and winding investigation through many different facets and avenues; almost a rediscovery, if you will, of who we are and what we find inspiring.” Alex Laska
Working with frequent collaborator and producer Eddie Spear in the group's honorary home in Nashville, it's safe to say Juveniles is set to cement the newfangled signature sound of Kingswood as they venture not only into a new year, but also a brand new chapter as a band. And for fans of all things rock and roll, if Bittersweet is anything to go by - we're in for some pretty sweet times ahead indeed.
BITTERSWEET IS OUT IN THE WORLD NOW - PLUS THE GENTS ARE HITTING THE ROAD FROM MARCH TO JUNE, GIFTING THEIR BRAND NEW ALBUM JUVENILES TO EYES AND EARS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH A HEAP OF SHOWS READY TO ROLL. MORE INFO BELOW, AND FOR ALL OTHER KINGSWOOD INFO, HEAD HERE.
