SINGLE REVIEW: Dead Walk (REDHOOK)

SINGLE Dead Walk // ARTIST RedHook

With a hypnotic blast of moody grooves and some pounding, sultry malice, the brand newie Dead Walk from RedHook continues the legendary sonic saga currently weaving around this zesty Sydney group.

Barrelling into 2020 after the group's previous commanding single Fake as well as recent supports alongside The Amity Affliction and Cog, RedHook sat poised to open the main stage at Download Festival until the COVID-19 pandemic came into full swing and stalled live music plans all over the globe. But while many of us are isolated at home and gigs temporarily seem like a distant memory, this Sydney bunch are offering a sliver of sonic hope by today revealing their brand new single Dead Walk.

With a stellar cocktail of riotous electronics, steaming grooves and some vocal acrobatics as RedHook frontwoman Emmy Mack prowls and pounces across the track, Dead Walk firmly places itself once again outside the reach of any one genre. From heavy, gutteral tones to sparkling electronics and a deliciously dark underbelly, Dead Walk brings everything fans have grown to love from the RedHook team with yet another savage, saccharine and dexterous display.

While live shows may be off the cards for the near future, fans won't have to wait long to catch a glimpse of RedHook in action, with the group set to also unveil their accompanying music video for Dead Walk in the coming weeks (and for anyone following their socials, we're in for a wild ride). In the meantime, treat yourself to a little cathartic therapy and go check out Dead Walk below!
