SINGLE Explosions After Dark // ARTIST Ebonivory

It's official - Ballarat prog prodigies Ebonivory are incapable of putting a sonic foot wrong as they unleash yet another lucent brawler with brand new tune Explosions After Dark dropping yesterday ahead of their co-headline tour with Melbourne's Glass Ocean kicking off in Brisbane tonight.

Premiering the surprise brand new tune last week on triple j's The Racket, Ballarat quartet Ebonivory have elegantly leapt into 2020 already teaming up with Ormsby Guitars and announcing their first ever North American tour starting this May alongside Moon Tooth and luminary prog ponies Caligula's Horse. And amongst all the recent excitement in team Ebonivory, some new tunes have been bubbling away, and this week we copped a stunning new tune with Explosions After Dark roaring to life.

Balancing the signature Ebonivory light and shade, Explosions After Dark deliciously flexes the group's immense songwriting chops, offering up woozy harmonies, slinky melodics and riffs tighter than my skinny jeans after a trip through the dryer. Ebbing between stupefying electronic tinges, walloping metal and swooning prog, there's enough emotive cuts and hulking breakdowns to entice a broad spectrum of listeners while also offering a peek into significant writing progression from the Ebonivory lads.

With such a stacked year ahead already for the band, we're certainly in for loads of luscious noise from Ebonivory as they continue their domination into the heavy world. If you're in Brisbane tonight you can catch the boys in action kicking off The After Dark Aussie tour alongside Glass Ocean and some stellar locals. More info here.
