SINGLE REVIEW: One Single Second (SET IT OFF)

SINGLE One Single Second // ARTIST Set It Off

American rockers Set It Off set up for some forthcoming Aussie shows sharing an unreleased B-Side in the form of the deliciously angsty pop rock gem One Single Second.

Since releasing their fifth LP Midnight in 2019, Florida pop rock heroes Set It Off have continued to share glimmers into the band's evolution into a world laced with live strings, live horns and more with a smattering of unreleased B-Sides leaping into the world from their previous full-length release. And with the group due out here next month playing support to Japan rock heavyweights ONE OK ROCK for their Eye Of The Storm Aussie tour, it's fitting we've had get another taste from the Set It Off sonic world with the latest unveiling of B-Side One Single Second.

Featuring the classic catchy melodics, the occasional searing guitar and tramping drumwork the group are effortlessly renowned for, One Single Second jams an emotive anthem full of passion and fury as frontman Cody Carson channels his most agonising relationship experience:

"For this song, I brought myself back to one of my worst memories of relationships I can remember — the first time I got cheated on by my first love. The entire song is basically telling the story of how I felt the connection fade and started putting the pieces together. It's got that angst, that aggression, that mysterious feeling of 'Do I know for sure?' 'Do I not know at all?' I think a lot of you have been betrayed like this before and this is the song you can hold onto to let it all out." - Cody Carson, Set It Off frontman

While borne from a particularly dire experience, Carson and his Set It Off bandmates find power in despair, crafting a catchy yet thoughtfully powerful jam that will get you fired up with its ferocious affability and Carson's ability to weave a personal yarn into a universal (and catchy) ode. Whether you're needing an emotional outlet to put that cheating dirtbag on blast, or just fancy an earworm to get you through the week, go wrap your ears around One Single Second and let the booming pop punk stylings of Set It Off brighten your day.

SET IT OFF'S NEW TUNE ONE SINGLE SECOND IS OUT AND ABOUT NOW, AND THE TRIO WILL ALSO BE OUT HERE NEXT MONTH SUPPORTING ONE OK ROCK. TOUR INFO BELOW, AND FOR MORE INFO, HEAD HERE.
