SINGLE Skin to Skin // ARTIST Movements
In a time when physicality and intimacy seem foreign and laced with risk, Californian quartet Movements weave slick pop sensibilities into their heavy antics while also penning an elegant ode to carnal communion on their latest tune Skin to Skin.
Signing onto the iconic Fearless Records after playing just one show five years ago, Movements have ceaselessly honed their alt rock wiles amid a sea of expectation since forming back in 2015. Heavily considered to be an integral part of the Emo revival movement of the early 2010s, the Californian quartet endured beyond the flash-in-the-pan tendencies of many of their contemporaries, soon to culminate in the release of their sophomore album No Good Left To Give next month - and a brand new tune over the weekend, with Skin to Skin leaping out with an accompanying music video.
With glimmering guitars and stacks of emotive stirrings, Skin to Skin offers a poppier result compared to the band's previous single Don't Give Up The Ghost - but still with the trademark Movements heavier earnest. And while the overall track may appear moody on its surface, there's a permeating sense of intimate buoyancy lurking beneath the more maudlin elements driven largely by the lyrical exploration into the consuming desire to learn everything about someone on an intimate level.
"This is the first time that we, as a band, have written a song that deals with physical intimacy. It's a sex song. Sorry, mom." - Patrick Miranda, vocals
With the new song and upcoming album marking the most time Movements have ever been able to spend in the studio, alongside teaming up with longtime producer Will Yip (Violent Soho, Panic! At The Disco, Turnover), there's a defined sense of self firmly evolving as the group continue to edge towards releasing No Good Left To Give on September 18. But for the time being, you can grab a look and a listen to Skin to Skin, with an accompanying music video for the new tune kicking around to keep you occupied until next month. More info below.
