WITH VISUALS AS LUSH AS THE SILKEN SONIC WARES THEY ACCOMPANY, THE BRAND NEW MUSIC VID FOR BOLERO FROM PROGRESSIVE LORDS GLASS OCEAN IS A MONOCHROME DELIGHT FULL OF FEELS AND BROODING CHARM TOTALLY IN SYNC WITH ITS NARRATIVE THEMES - AND YOU CAN GRAB A SNEAK PEEK RIGHT NOW AHEAD OF ITS OFFICIAL RELEASE RIGHT HERE PREMIERING ON THE SOUNDCHECK!

Armed with a sonic soul that is equal parts mystery and majesty, Glass Ocean are a unique and exhilarating burgeoning fixture on the Australian and broader global progressive scene. With swooning arrangements, elegant sensuality and rich, oozing vocals amid layers of synths and crisp guitars, you would be forgiven to assume this quintet have secretly time-travelled throughout history and picked up touches from past, present and future into an enchanting yet potent amalgamation to bewitch the senses. And while currently gearing towards their forthcoming debut album The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else next month, their recent single Bolero has sublimely offered a further peek into the Glass Ocean rabbit-hole; and it’s certainly a bewitching place to fall into.

Lyrically touching on the exquisite heartache that comes with rejection while laced with the associated self-discovery that can often follow, Bolero is a warm outing that partially scales back the intensity seen on some of the earlier Glass Ocean lead singles, instead allowing the impassioned grooves and 80s power-pop overtones guide proceedings in a ballad-ready showing of measured restraint. And it's this deft restraint that comes to the fore with the group's accompanying music video for the track featuring frontman Tobias Atkins alone in a black and white film noir-esque setting, fervently brooding and grooving as he embodies the core themes of the track, while also ultimately reflecting the overarching COVID-19 pandemic surrounding the production itself.

“During the shooting of the video for ‘Bolero’, the country was right in the midst of its strictest lockdown measures. This made production requirements difficult to obtain. The silver lining was a chance to get creative with minimal tools, crew and sets. So my mum and I used what we could under the corona restrictions to come up with something we were really happy with. Along with the amazing editing skills of our 'chief of visual' Adrian Goleby we ended up with something simple and vibrant” - Tobias Atkins, vocals

Building steadily towards their debut full-length, Glass Ocean have already flexed their more bombastic sonic muscles this year amid the breezier moments found on previous tracks Voyage and Beyond Us ; but it's ultimately on Bolero that we see the silken allure billow further into a sophisticated juncture that will grow on you with each passing listen, and we're undoubtedly in for a treat as the band tread closer to unveiling the entire end product. But for the time being - come grab a sneaky early peek at Glass Ocean's brand new clip for Bolero below and get lost in some sublime simplicity to soothe your soul.
