RECENTLY UNVEILING THEIR BRAND NEW TRACK 'THE RIFT' EXPLORING THE STRUGGLES OF FACING YOUR OWN DEMONS, BRISSIE ALT-ROCKERS THE ROCKEFELLER FREQUENCY CONTINUE THEIR LIKEABLE TREK INTO NOSTALGIC INDIE ROCK WITH THEIR BRAND NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR 'THE RIFT' PREMIERING TODAY ON THE SOUNDCHECK.
Blending nostalgic sonic apathy with ruffled pop hooks and sociopolitical themes, The Rockefeller Frequency have spent their years performing in (self-described) various states of functionality and utter dysfunction, sharing stages with the likes of Birds of Tokyo and Calling All Cars, while busily working on their debut album set for release early next year. And while drawing inspiration from The Strokes, At The Drive In and a vigorous fascination with conspiracy theories, the Brissie quartet have also embraced a particularly punk mindset, recording in their own studios in Brisbane, and engineering and producing their upcoming full-length on their own.
But before we are greeted with even more new material from the band's very own DIY headquarters, today the Rockefeller Frequency gents unleash the accompanying music video for their self-aware ditty 'The Rift' which works to capture the confronting nature of helplessness, loss and feeling personally way off course, as frontman Joshua Eckersley explains: “The music video for our new song ‘The Rift’ is something we put together with Brisbane filmmaker Tristan Davies, who’s done some great work with other local bands. It represents the chaotic mindset of the character in the song. He is plagued by uncertainty and worry about almost everything in his life, and it bleeds through everything. We were working with the themes of chaos and becoming unhinged, despite having the best of intentions. We’re pretty happy with how it turned out.”
You can check out the brand new clip for 'The Rift' from The Rockefeller Frequency exclusively below before it officially releases tomorrow, and be sure to keep an eye out for a whole lot more to come from the Brissie lads in the near future!
