Way back at the end of 2017, The Soundcheck grabbed some time with Fuel frontman Bret Scallions ahead of the band returning down under, talking everything from touring with Aerosmith to concocting their earlier works. And whether you're a diehard Fuel fan or not, there are few who haven't found themselves crooning along to the band's irresistable 1998 breakout hit Shimmer - and the latest round of triple j's Like A Version saw Canberra rockers Hands Like Houses bust out a cracking Shimmer cover (with the band also simultaneously releasing a brand new song ahead of their upcoming EP release).
Slowly inching closer to the release of their self-titled EP due out October 23, Hands Like Houses have been steadily bread-crumbing a slew of hard-hitting singles to satiate fans in the madness that has been 2020 so far. And while live music is yet to make a firm comeback across the country, the band's killer appearance on triple j's Like A Version on Friday was the closest we could (safely) get to catching this rockin' quintet live in action - and hot damn, they picked a hell of a tune for their cover.
Carving up a massive cover of Fuel's iconic track Shimmer, Hands Like Houses proved yet again they're one of the most exciting groups in the game right now, breathing new life to the hooky 1998 Fuel icon that many music lovers of a certain age inexplicably still know all the words to. But wait - there's genuinely more! Alongside the live performance of their own recent single The Water, yesterday also marked the release of a brand new single from the forthcoming self-titled EP, with the beautifully bold Dangerous leaping into the world with an accompanying music video to boot.
With just under a month to go before the extremely anticipated EP drops via UNFD, there's plenty to lose yourself in for the moment with the new tune and Like A Version performances kicking around on the interwebs (and incidentally - you can check 'em all out below right now!).
