MUSIC NEWS: Come get brotherly with the new tune from Pierce Brothers!

Tiana Speter

In a time when the phrase "these uncertain times" is enough to send a shudder down the spine, there's nothing quite like a heartfelt ditty to soothe the soul and make us all feel a bit more connected when so many are disjointed and apart. And while the latest track Brother from iconic brotherly duo Pierce Brothers may tug at the heartstrings with its focus on being away from family, the pair's ever-present upbeat indie folk wiles offer a salve of hope and effervescent joy impossible to resist.

The final track to be released before the brothers drop their brand new album Into The Great Unknown next month, Brother had in fact been written and performed for years before the dynamic duo of Jack and Patrick Pierce brought this bubbly track into the studio. And as if the tune leaping out into the world isn't quite enough for you; also along for the ride is a fun and intimate accompanying treat, with the brothers playing up some sibling rivalry cut up with old footage of the pair as children for the official music video.

“We wanted to juxtapose the earnestness of the song with a bit of a piss-take...we went in there with the intention of playing the whole thing straight, but then when Justin (our older brother) said he could drop in, we thought it would just be way funnier if we tried to do an honest-to-God straight performance, and he just walks through and messes it up for us. We couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of it so we figured, why not??" - Patrick Pierce

Gifting everything fans have come to grow and love from this energetic lot, Brother is a rich, robust and rollicking glimpse into what lies ahead when the Pierce Brothers officially unveil their hotly anticipated sophomore album on March 5. And while 2021 may have had a few jitters shaking the blues of the past 12 months to begin with, there's a heap to look forward to on the very near horizon, including a stacked Victorian run for the boys starting in late March to celebrate the brand new album. Upcoming tour dates and more below - and be sure to give Brother a spin to carry you through the rest of the week!
