With over two decades under their collective belts, 2022 brings album #8 and more of the searing Psycroptic energy fans have come to know and love from the Tassie metal mainstays. Releasing late last week, Divine Council wholeheartedly showcases the intense growth and sonic exploration Psycroptic have been on throughout their careers, with the band's brand of technical death metal wholeheartedly embracing fresh ferocity and unforgettable performances across the board from start to finish.
With brothers Dave Haley (drums), Joe Haley (guitar), Jason Peppiatt (vocals) and Todd Stern (bass) forging together to deliver their most striking release yet, the group have also unveiled a brand new single and music video in conjunction with Divine Council's release, with Enslavement icing the very sturdy overarching cake that is this eighth studio album.
Of the new album, Stern shares: "Divine Council is an extremely proud moment for Psycroptic. I believe that it accurately represents the intensity and maturation of the band. We always seem to evolve in a healthy way, and this record is a testament to that evolution. There is an art to picking up where you left off, maintaining the specific flavour that has built up such a strong, loyal, & long-lasting rapport with the fans; yet still managing to successfully level up the quality of songwriting while also taking risks. The making of this record has been deeply fulfilling for us. We hope you enjoy jamming on it as much as we enjoyed creating it in the first place. LET IT RIP".
Presenting Psycroptic at their most potent to date, Divine Council is a must-listen for old and new fans as much as it's a staggering step forward from one of Australia's most dynamic heavy bands.
Divine Council is out now via EVP Recordings.
