MELBOURNE MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST/PRODUCER MECHANICAL PTERODACTYL STRIKES A CHORD WITH A BRAND NEW CLIP FOR LATEST SINGLE 'STRIKE UP A MATCH'.
Mixing electronic and acoustic elements into a brooding James Blake-ish soundscape, 'Strike Up A Match' signals the first taste of a second full-length for Mechanical Pterodactyl (aka Yen Nguyen) - and his first new music in 7 years. Bubbling full of synths, Nguyen's otherworldly baritone, plus a vocal feature from long-time collaborator Jenny Lee that calls out the mundane, as Yen Nguyen explains: “It’s the feeling of being stuck in a loop, of playing out the same routine from week to week. Strike Up a Match is a song about snapping out of it.”
With its emotive subject matter, the brand new clip for 'Strike Up A Match' matches the lyrical content with its complex simplicity - an inky black background behind a stop-motion globe that slowly evolves from the familiar and structured into a sprawling artistic wonderland. Designed by Aussie artist Anna Madeleine, it's a perfect pairing for the dark rock tones - and you can grab an exclusive look below!
