Returning with their first new music since the 2024 EP Requiem, today The Last Martyr came back blazing with a blistering new single Brain Rot that also finds the Melbourne quartet paying homage to their nu-metalcore roots.

Produced by Chris Lalic (Windwaker), Brain Rot snarls with crushing riffs, stomping beats and vocalist Monica Strut's emphatic Jekyll and Hyde split between crystalline cleans and moments of acerbic harsh delights.

Loaded with intensity and some tasty modern glitched-up finesse, Brain Rot isn't merely ear candy; it also carries a powerful dive into fear, manipulation and the sensory chaos of the digital age.

"Traditional media and social media are designed to be addictive and often this means keeping viewers in a cycle of fear mongering. The human mind was never meant to know this much information and it’s so overwhelming at times, toeing the line between staying informed and looking after your mental health. Brain Rot is about the rebellious act of logging off from the outside world to find a moment of inner peace.”” - Monica Strut, vocalist

Brain Rot follows The Last Martyr’s acclaimed 2024 EP Requiem, which debuted at #64 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart, showcasing the band’s growth into darker, more emotionally complex territory. Their 2021 breakthrough single Hindsight earned triple j rotation and Unearthed Feature Artist status, and their debut EP Purgatory was praised by NME for its “gut-punching riffs, powerful vocals and propulsive blast beats.”

Blending soaring melodies, twisted theatrics, and relentless energy, The Last Martyr have shared stages with Amaranthe (SWE), Story Of The Year (USA), Hanabie (JPN), Black Veil Brides (USA), Dayseeker (USA), RedHookSunk Loto and Void Of Vision; and have appeared at Unify Gathering, BIGSOUND, Froth & Fury festivals. Their fearless songwriting, commanding live presence, and refusal to play it safe continue to establish them as one of Australia’s most compelling heavy acts.

The Last Martyr will also bring Brain Rot to life onstage on November 15 supporting Trenton Woodley (formerly Hands Like Houses) at Max Watts.
