Putting the fun back in funk with lashings of rock and roll swagger, Brisbane trio Rude Rum are an emphatic meeting point for fans of Aussie grit, Brit poppin' rock and bluesy good times. Hailing from the iconic streets of Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, the group encapsulate nostalgic tendencies with high-octane modernity; think Royal Blood in a hot tub with Gary Clark Jr. and The Black Keys, and you've got yourself an inkling of the Rude Rum trajectory that has endeared them to so many in a relatively short space of time. Don't believe me? Enter: the group's brand new single Got That Feeling.
Wielding upbeat riffs, jaunty grooves and splashy rhythmics beneath the sharp sashaying vocals of singer/guitarist Jaeden Ogston, this three-piece have concocted a criminally infectious brew of grit, slight surf rock tones and oozing funk that will force a smile to your dial, while growing on its sibling track Curious Affection that dropped in 2019:
“Got that Feelin' is the funky sister to its sibling "Curious Affection"… Both songs developed around a similar period in time, however Got that Feelin' hero's a much more funk inspired riff and underlying tonality; especially some of the guitar tones where a thinner harmonic quality and sharper attack of the playing style pays homage to old school funk recordings where they often plugged straight into the console rather than an amp. People kept saying to us at our shows "That should be your next single!" or "When are you going to record that one?" so it was definitely a clear choice to release this tune next and plus combined with our own style, it ended up as a super tasty track which really adds dynamic to our catalogue" - Jaeden Ogston, vocals/guitar
